Why 'Weapons' Works Even Better Without Its Original Cast
For fans of the recently released film Weapons, it might be hard to picture any other actors inhabiting the roles, but the original cast looked decidedly different from the final performers on the call sheet. Writer and director Zach Cregger had his main cast set before filming, but nearly every ensemble member had to be replaced due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. It's a circumstance that did prove to be stressful for Cregger, but the cast changes ended up being a blessing in disguise, as the film was much better for it.
