Alien Ant Farm have spoken about the disappointment that their iconic Tony Hawk’s anthem ‘Wish’ won’t be featured on the upcoming Pro Skater 3+4.

Alien Ant Farm’s ‘Wish’ featured on their 2001 breakout album ‘Anthology’ and was later included on the soundtrack to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. A remake of the classic skate game is due to launch next month but the soundtrack for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 has cut a lot of songs that defined the original games, including ‘Wish’.

“Is it a bummer that we weren’t invited, or that they didn’t include us? Absolutely,” guitarist Terry Corso told the BBC. “We understand that they’re trying to bring some new stuff onto these releases, and if you’ve gotta make cuts, you’ve gotta make cuts. I don’t know why it had to be us, I feel like our song was really good on there and it did really well.”

“I kind of get it. Skating feels a little more of the punk side and we’re not a punk band,” added vocalist Dryden Mitchell. “But I think that’s what makes a cool soundtrack, being different.”

They’re not the only ones disappointed with the selection of music on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. The full soundtrack was announced last month with just six tracks from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 soundtrack featured on the remaster, alongside four from Pro Skater 4. Seven OG artists have also contributed new songs to the soundtracks; KRS-One, Agent Orange, The Cult, De La Soul, Iron Maiden, Sex Pistols and Toy Dolls.

“I am so disappointed about this. I’m fine with a handful of songs missing, but there are barely any of the classic songs in here. I know licensing sucks but there are several songs missing that feel ‘essential’,” one fan wrote.

Tony Hawk previously defended the reworked soundtrack following backlash to the changes. “It was my choice to pick some different songs by the same artists featured in ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 OST’,” he wrote on social media. “I’m hoping that discovery is half the fun, and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the first place. So listen and enjoy the ride. More to come… both old and new.”

When Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 was first announced, it looked like OG skater Bam Margera had been cut from the game but following backlash from fans (and Tony Hawk reportedly demanding his inclusion), Margera was later announced as a secret skater.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 launches July 11 for PlayStation, Switch and Xbox consoles. It will also be a Day One release for Xbox Game Pass.
