Are Florence + The Machine teasing new music?

It looks like Florence + The Machine are teasing new music after sharing a cryptic new post on social media.
Speculation about new material from Florence Welch and co gathered momentum when the singer took to Instagram to share carousel of images that seemed to hint that music was on the way.
One of the photos included a whiteboard that contained the message “You can have it all,” before listing off “Clarity, power, purpose, vocals, space, dynamics and beauty”, it also made a cryptic nod to Adele, with “Swans vs Adele” written in capital letters underneath. Another slide showed Flo at work with IDLES‘ guitarist Mark Bowen – much to fans’ excitement.
The carousel included mentions of “Witchcraft, folk horror, mysticism, magic, poetry [and] insanity,” as well as “Unreal City” written in cursive, and a photograph of Simon Critchley’s 2024 book, On Mysticism.
The first photo included an eerie sketch, with October written in a blue, gothic font over the top, while the caption simply read: “Toil and trouble”.
While it isn’t exactly clear what the ‘Shake It Out’ singer is hinting at with the post, it has got fans talking, and some are convinced that it could be hinting at a new album from Florence + The Machine.
On Reddit, some are speculating that the mention of October could suggest that an album may be set for release in October 2025, and others have questioned if the handwritten “Unreal City” message could be a nod to either the album title or the name of a new song.
Similarly, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Welch has changed the bio on her Instagram page to now read “I get on stage, and I call her by her first name”, and debated if this could be a lyric from a forthcoming song.
The update has also caught the eye of Glass Animals, who simply wrote “omggggg” in the Instagram comment section. The two artists have connections, as singer Dave Bayley has worked with Florence + The Machine in the past – helping produce their 2022 album ‘Dance Fever’ alongside Welch, Jack Antonoff, Kid Harpoon and Doveman.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not Florence + The Machine have new music on the way, if it does turn out that the group are working on a new record, it will mark their sixth studio album and first since the aforementioned ‘Dance Fever’.
It will also come shortly after the band celebrated the 10th anniversary of their third album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’, earlier this year. That record marked the follow-up to 2009’s breakthrough ‘Lungs’ and 2011’s sophomore release ‘Ceremonials’, and also became their first US chart-topper.
Since then, they have followed the release with ‘High As Hope’, which was shared in 2018, and ‘Dance Fever’.
Last year also saw the band mark the 15th anniversary of ‘Lungs’ by playing a one-off orchestral show at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall. The concert, which was held as part of the BBC Proms, was captured on a live album called ‘Symphony Of Lungs’ last October.
Outside of music with Florence + The Machine, Welch joined Taylor Swift on stage at the final night of her European ‘Eras’ tour at Wembley Stadium last summer, with the two of them performing the pair’s collaborative track ‘Florida!!!’.
From there, Welch also made an appearance alongside Sampha on Everything Is Recorded’s single ‘Never Felt Better’ and joined The Maccabees on stage at Glastonbury 2025 last month for their closing Park Stage headline set, performing the band’s ‘Love You Better’ and her own ‘Dog Days Are Over’.
