The musician is currently performing on Willie Nelson’s ‘Outlaw Music Festival Tour’, which kicked off in May and is set to run until September. Ahead of Friday’s (August 8) show at Darien Lake Amphitheater in Buffalo, New York, Dylan reportedly spent two days at a studio in the state.
According to a press release, Dylan recorded at White Lake Studios in Albany, New York, on August 5 and 6 with “members of his band”.
“We want every artist and guest to feel relaxed and at home,” said David Bourgeois, the studio’s CEO. “We’ve had the privilege of working with many remarkable talents over the years, but this visit was truly special. I’m incredibly proud of our team.”
It hasn’t been revealed what he was recording.

It comes after Dylan recently announced the UK and Ireland leg of his ‘Rough And Rowdy Ways’ tour, which sprung from his 2020 studio album of the same name and has been running since November 2021. The 10th leg of the tour ran across North America in March and April this year and saw him dipping into his back catalogue, including the first performance of ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’ in 15 years.
The UK and Ireland dates will kick off on November 7 and, as with other recent shows, the use of video cameras and mobile phones will be prohibited at all shows.

Aside from his ongoing tour, Dylan has a book of drawings, Point Blank (Quick Studies) coming out on November 18, and he also narrated a trailer for Machine Gun Kelly’s ‘Lost Americana’ album earlier this year.
Dylan was portrayed by Timothée Chalamet in the biopic A Complete Unknown last year. “Don’t think twice about seeing this brilliant Bob Dylan biopic,” wrote NME in a four-star review, adding: “If you’re a Bob newbie, you’ll leave the cinema ready to dive into his back catalogue. If you’re already a fan, the next few weeks will be spent making playlists of lesser-known B-sides or reading the lore around a scene you weren’t familiar with. And that’s why it was a good idea to make this film – a mad idea, but a good one.”
