Chris Brown was arrested in Manchester this morning (May 15) for allegedly attacking a music producer in London two years ago.

The singer, 36, was tracked down at The Lowry Hotel by the Metropolitan Police and arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm hours after arriving in the city on a private jet.

A spokesperson from the Met said, via The Independent: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 2am on Thursday, May 15 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on February 19, 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”

Brown, who is meant to be bringing his ‘Breezy Bowl XX’ tour to Europe next month, was accused of assault by producer Abraham Diaw.

Diaw has also lodged a civil complaint for $16million against Brown, seeking damages for injuries and losses incurred due to the alleged incident.

Brown’s upcoming tour is set to begin on June 8 in the Netherlands and take in Germany, the UK, Ireland, France and Portugal, before he heads on a North American leg of the tour at the end of July. Among the shows set for the UK are two huge concerts at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 21 and 22 and four gigs at Co-op Live in Manchester on June 15, 16 and 24 and July 3.

When announcing the tour in March, Brown said: “So excited to be able to share this moment with the world and my amazing fans. I can’t wait to see all y’all’s beautiful faces. I’mma take y’all through these eras, but most importantly give y’all my heart and soul.”

Last month, he warned fans not to wear red bandanas to the shows, which mark the 20th anniversary of his career – his debut single ‘Run It!’ came out on June 30, 2005. On Instagram Stories, he said: “I see a lot of the fans collectively telling team breezy to wear red bandannas to the concert. I would highly advise y’all to NOT do that! 🤣!”

He suggested that fans wear brown bandanas instead, saying that he wanted to be “promoting positivity” on the tour. He didn’t explain why he advised against wearing red bandanas, but it’s been noted that members of the Bloods gang often wear them to represent their involvement.
