David Lynch's 'Dune' Is on Netflix, but SpiceDiver's Edit Is the Best

The late surrealist director David Lynch's 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert's beloved sci-fi novel, Dune, remains one of the most infamous blockbuster flops in Hollywood history. Hammy acting, cheesy special effects, clunky pacing, and divergence from the source material caused the film to lose money at the box office. It was largely panned by critics and even earned a spot on the "Stinkers of 1984" edition of Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert's TV program. Lynch himself was so embarrassed by the film's reception that he refused to talk about Dune in interviews, and even requested his name be removed from the credits of an extended television version that aired in 1988.
