'Elio' Is Another Disaster for Pixar With Record Low Opening Weekend
Clearly, Elio isn’t destined to have the same success that Pixar and Walt Disney enjoyed just last summer thanks to their worldwide billion-dollar blockbuster, Inside Out 2 — no, not even close. Inside Out 2 made an astonishing $154.2 million over its opening weekend at the box office and went on to make $1.698 billion globally to become the highest-grossing film of 2024. Fast-forward a year later, even with all its praise from the critics and audiences, and poor Elio still went down as one of the lowest-grossing debuts of all time for Pixar. In fact, apart from Soul and Turning Red, Elio set the record for the worst premiere in the modern era of the studio’s history.
