A performance of a piece from Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar score being played in Cologne Cathedral has gone viral on social media, with viewers saying it gave them “goosebumps”.

The footage comes from a July 16 performance by famed organist Anna Lapwood, who is the official organist of The Royal Albert Hall, with over 1million followers on social media.

She has made headlines in the past by contributing to concerts by AURORA and Bonobo at the venue. On July 17, the artist posted on Instagram about her experience following concerts played the previous night at Cologne Cathedral.

“I have no words to describe last night” she said. “I have honestly never experienced anything like it. 13,000 people showed up to Cologne Cathedral for my concert. 13,000!!!!!! The police ended up being called and I’m so grateful to them for their help keeping everything under control. We expected it would be busy, but never in a million years did we think it would be THAT busy”.

She continued: “I really didn’t want anyone to be turned away so 45 minutes before the start I made the decision to do 2 concerts back-to-back – 4,000 in each – and I genuinely thought we had got everyone in but apparently 5,000 were still waiting outside and didn’t make it in”.

The piece from Interstellar, a track called ‘Day One’, was captured on video and been circulated on social media, with fans responding to the awe-inspiring atmosphere of the moment. “Goosebumps” said one person on Reddit, with another adding: “Listening to Interstellar score is transcendental experience!”

Interstellar is one of director Christopher Nolan’s most celebrated films. It stars Matthew McConaughey as an ex-NASA pilot who is tasked to pilot a spacecraft to find a new planet for humans. It celebrated its tenth anniversary last year with the filmmaker saying it was “magical” to see the film re-released in cinemas.

Last month, Will Smith revealed he turned down another Nolan classic, Inception, because he “didn’t get it”.
