Hayley Williams’ new songs officially released on streaming platforms

Hayley Williams‘ new music has officially been shared on streaming platforms – find out more below.

Earlier this week (July 28), Williams surprise-released an album ‘Ego’ on her website, with the new solo record containing 17 tracks, including the single ‘Mirtazapine’ which was premiered on a Nashville radio station last week.

Less than two full days after releasing the surprise album, she pulled the record from her website, newly updated to read: “Hello, there. Thank you for listening.”

Now, all 17 tracks have been officially shared across major streaming platforms – though they’re curiously not packaged as the ‘Ego’ album, and are instead listed as individual and separate singles.

The releases mark the Paramore front woman’s first new music she became an independent artist when her record deal with Warner/Atlantic ended.

Following the limited-time preview of the project on her website, fans dissected the songs and lyrics and have sparked fears of a Paramore split. Laced throughout the project are cryptic lyrics hinting at a potential breakup between her and Paramore guitarist Taylor York, who she confirmed she was dating in 2022.

It’s worth noting that neither York or Williams has addressed rumours of a split.

This isn’t not the first time Williams has released solo music in a way that departs from the usual album rollout timeline. Her previous solo album, ‘Flowers for Vases / descansos’, was released in February 2021 with only a day’s notice.

Since then, Williams has shared solo material in the forms of a collaboration with Turnstile in late April, and a sensual Moses Sumney joint ‘I Like It I Like It’ in May. In June, Hayley Williams was announced as a guest feature on David Byrne’s new album ‘Everybody Laughs’.

2021’s ‘Flowers for Vases / descansos’ scored a four-star review, with El Hunt writing for NME: “As if tugging up grubby fistfuls of dead weeds to make room for living things to flourish, ‘Flowers for Vases/descansos’ rakes back the debris and leaves Hayley Williams exposed. Sowing new seeds, it’s an approach that reaps rewards.”
