Here’s what Iron Maiden played to kick off the ‘Run For Your Lives’ European and UK tour

Iron Maiden have kicked off their European and UK ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour – see footage, the complete setlist and more below.
Last night (May 27), the legendary British heavy metal band performed in Budapest to begin their ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour. Besides marking their first gig of the year, it also served as the band’s first show with new touring drummer Simon Dawson.
Dawson’s involvement in the band follows the touring retirement of long-term sticksman Nicko McBrain, who announced last year he would be stepping away from touring after suffering a minor stroke in 2023 which left him partially paralysed on his right side from the shoulder down.
Additionally, the tour would also be a special one for fans, as it would see the band perform songs exclusively from the acclaimed first seven albums. The band performed 17 songs, nine of which were performed for the first time in numerous years.
To kick off their set, Iron Maiden performed ‘Murders In The Rue Morgue’ off 1981’s ‘Killers’ album, marking the first time they’ve played it live since 2005. They followed that up with their first performance of ‘Wrathchild’ since 2017, and their first time playing ‘Killers’ since 1999.
Other songs they performed that hadn’t been part of their setlists for several years include ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘The Clairvoyant’, ‘Powerslave’, ‘2 Minutes To Midnight’, ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ and ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’.
Check out more footage from the show and their complete setlist below.

Ahead of the tour’s kick-off, the band shared a message with fans, urging them to “severely limit the use of their phone cameras out of respect for the band and their fellow fans”, with with frontman Bruce Dickinson previously teasing that the band would “be doing stuff we’ve never, ever done before”.
During Nicko McBrain’s final show with the band last year, Dickinson also made sure to remind fans that McBrain has not left Iron Maiden. He will still be with the band, and will track with them on upcoming albums, but will no longer be touring due to his medical condition.
Meanwhile, Iron Maiden have announced an “unrestricted” new documentary film – including the late Paul Di’Anno’s final interview. The film, which will celebrate 50 years of the band, is due to drop later this year.
Along with appearances from longtime fans and names such as Javier Bardem, Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and KISS’ Gene Simmons, rare archival footage and all-new animated sequences of the band’s legendary mascot, Eddie, will all be included too.
Elsewhere, Dickinson recently announced a graphic novel made with soil from William Blake’s grave, and opened up about the Di’Anno era song he can no longer sing.
