‘Persona 4’ star accidentally confirms remake is on the way

Persona 4’s Yuri Lowenthal has seemingly confirmed a remake of the iconic game is on the way – but he won’t be involved.
The original Persona 4 was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, before being re-released in 2014 for the PS3. More recently, the enhanced Golden version of Persona 4 was made available for PC, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Switch users. Now it looks like a full-blown remake is in the works.
Taking to social media earlier this week, Yuri Lowenthal (who voiced Yosuke in both Persona 3 and 4) told fans he wouldn’t be involved in the remake project, before it was officially announced. “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake,” he wrote in a now-deleted post on Bluesky. “I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.”
A few hours later, fellow Persona 4 star Erin Fitzgerald wrote: “For those asking, I have not been asked to reprise my role as Chie Satonaka in the Persona 4 remake. I am blessed to have recorded as many Persona 4 games as I did playing her.”

“This is how I learn the remake is finally confirmed,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “Obviously we have to wait for Atlus to make an OFFICIAL official announcement, but this is pretty cut-and-dry as far as confirmation of the remake goes,” added another. “I choose to believe he asked and begged and they said no because they aren’t making it, wouldn’t that be funny,” said a third.
“A Persona 4 remake is one of the few video game remakes that would seem kind of redundant to me. Persona 4 Golden is very accessible and still holds up pretty well,” added another fan.
Last year, Sega released an updated Reloaded version of Persona 3 that incorporated elements from 2016’s Persona 5 and featured a whole new cast of voice actors.
NME has reached out to Sega for comment.
In other news, Hideo Kojima has revealed that an anime adaptation of Death Stranding is in the works, alongside the previously-announced feature film.
