Jonathan Joss, ‘King Of The Hill’ And ‘Parks And Recreation’ Actor, Killed In Texas Shooting

Actor Jonathan Joss, known for his roles in King Of The Hill and Parks And Recreation, was killed in a Texas shooting, aged 59.
San Antonio police confirmed to NBC News that officers were dispatched while the shooting was in process on Saturday (May 31) night and found him near the road and, despite attempts to revive him, Joss was found dead on the scene.
A suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was taken into custody and is now booked for murder. TMZ reports that the shooting was the result of “a heated argument” with a neighbour.
According to a police report, Joss – full name Jonathan Joss Gonzales – died from “injuries sustained after multiple gun shots”.
Joss is best known for playing John Redcorn in the animated comedy series King of the Hill, where he was one of the show’s main voice actors until it ended after 13 seasons in 2010.
Joss had a five-episode-long stint on Parks and Recreation, playing Ken Hotate – an elder of the Wamapoke Native American tribe. Joss’ other acting roles include appearances in Tulsa King and the 2016 remake of The Magnificent Seven.
Outside of acting, Joss is also known as a musician, performing as part of The Red Corn Band. He posted on Facebook over the weekend about a gig he played, writing: “Last night’s gig was amazing — huge thanks to everyone who came out and showed us love! We’re feeling so grateful for the support and good vibes.”
In other Parks and Recreation-related news, in January, Adam Scott opened up about his feelings about rewatching the show, saying that it makes him “sad”.
He said: “Honestly, because it makes me sad to see the show, because I miss them and I miss all the actors even though we’re constantly in touch and stuff, but I miss the time of making it.
“It was a really joyful five years — for me, seven years for the show — getting to go work there every day with that group of people. We had so much fun and we’re making something that meant something to people; it meant something to us.”
He continued: “I miss everybody. We all are on a text chain, and at least once a week we all add to the chain, and it’s great. They’re the best.
“No one took it for granted. We all had a blast… I know people say that about their shows. It’s annoying, but it really was so fun, and everyone… got that it was special, and no one was sick of going to work.”
