A new survey has revealed the most addictive video games around.

The Payless Power Study asked 1000 Americans about their gaming habits. “Of the respondents, 88 per cent played video games at least monthly,” said the study, with only those answers used for the report.

Those that said Elden Ring was their favourite game revealed that they spent an average of 20 hours a week playing video games. The second most addictive video game was God Of War, with players logging an average of 17 hours a week while Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil were the third most addictive titles, with fans spending around 16 hours a week playing video games.

Last year, a survey claimed that the best game for reducing stress was Stardew Valley, followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons while Mario Party Superstars, Disney Dreamlight Valley and New Pokémon Snap all featured in the top 20.

The creators of Elden Ring launched a new spin-off multiplayer game Nightreign last week. Nightreign has been praised by some fans but others have struggled with playing it solo or finding teams of three to defeat the various bosses.

Following complaints, FromSoftware have said they’re working on a two-person multiplayer mode and have made single-player easier. There have also been reports that Alex Garland’s movie adaptation of Elden Ring will star Heartstopper’s Kit Connor.

In other news, Fortnite has confirmed a Squid Game collaboration is coming to the hit video game later this month. It’s the latest in a long line of crossovers, with some more popular than others. Earlier this week, some Fortnite players criticised a “corny” new collab with Kendrick Lamar while others are very excited by the “epic” Sabrina Carpenter dance party that’s currently live in Fortnite Festival.
