‘Mario Kart World’ players are now complaining the game is too easy

Mario Kart World players are now complaining the Nintendo Switch 2 game is too easy following the release of a new update.
Shortly after Mario Kart World launched, Nintendo shared an update that changed the frequency in which the fan-favourite “lap-type courses” would appear during ‘VS’ races. This prompted a wave of backlash from fans and yesterday (July 30), the bumper 1.2 update changed things back.
“No way they actually made good quality of life improvements and they listened to the fans about the lap races? I didn’t know Nintendo had it in them,” said one fan, with many others praising the update.
However a number of Mario Kart World fans are now calling the game too easy after Nintendo nerfed the computer opponents in the game. According to the patch notes, developers have “made COM weaker in everything other than ‘Battle’.”

3 lap tracks being more often online is ok.
CPU nerf is stupid. Ran a couple of test races/knockouts and they are stupid easy now even at 150cc. People can already rewind blue shells to cheese this game, how much easier do they need it. https://t.co/ZsTS58Vtpi pic.twitter.com/gu7iVaUXB4

To try and balance this, Nintendo also “made homing of Boomerang weaker”, “decreased the probability of getting a Triple Mushroom” when a player is falling behind and changed the frequency of getting a ‘? Block’.
“I thought the difficulty of the COM was really good. Provided a challenge but wasn’t too unreasonable. But the ‘I got blue shelled’ crowd got involved I guess…” wrote one fan. “In a game that has SO many ways to reduce difficulty (50cc, 100cc, auto steer, auto accelerate), why the heck do we want to make the hard mode easy,” added another.
“It really annoys me that people bitching has made it so you now can’t fail to win against the CPU. I was loving having an actual challenge in a Mario Kart game,” said a third.
Earlier this week Nintendo surprise-released the SNES classic Mario Paint onto the Nintendo Switch Online Library with the soundtrack also added to Nintendo Music. Later today, they’re hosting a Direct for third-party developers to share updates about future Switch 2 titles. You can watch it here at 2pm BST.
In other news, Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima has hit out at “sad” blockbuster military games and claimed most AAA studios are playing things too safe.
