'Mission: Impossible' Director Responds To Biggest Criticism

Director Christopher McQuarrie has been all things Mission: Impossible for a decade. He directed and wrote Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation in 2015 and has been working with Tom Cruiseon the films in the series ever since. The latest, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, was released on May 23, 2025, in the United States, and as usual, garnered a lot of attention, good and bad. There were positive reviews about Cruise's self-performed stunts, the explosions, and overall top-notch action, which made the final installment one to remember. However, its main criticism was the early exposition, which McQuarrie explained during an interview with The New York Times.
