Netflix's Highly-Anticipated Horror 'The Summer Hikaru Died' Unveils Gruesome New Trailer
Surprisingly, horror and anime don't blend together very well. Many major attempts to adapt some of the best horror manga (here's looking at you, Junji Ito) have ended poorly, with fans finding the anime adaptations lackluster and, worst of all, laughable. But this Summer anime season, Netflix is here to make that right with its newest horror series, The Summer Hikaru Died. The manga of the same by Mokumokuren, which was only first published in 2021, has become a phenomenon among manga readers. The Summer Hikaru Died is one of Summer 2025's most anticipated releases, even against shonen giants like Dandadan, Demon Slayer, Kaiju No. 8, and Chainsaw Man (all of which release new seasons/movies this Summer seasn), and the new trailer proves exactly why fans are se excited to see the anime adatation.
