Original 'Harry Potter' Star Emma Thompson Says the Franchise "Wasn't Important" To Her Career
To fans, the original Harry Potter movies are some of the most magical films ever made. But, to one of the original stars, it was just another paying gig. The film franchise, which began in 2001 with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Sorcerer's Stone, if you prefer to be wrong), featured an all-star British cast, which included Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Richard Harris, Helena Bonham Carter, Gary Oldman, and the list goes on and on and on. Among that A-list talent was another member of British acting royalty: Emma Thompson. While many of the cast have magical memories from their time filming the series, Thompson's are a little more down to Earth.
