Peter Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings' Leaves Streaming on Prime Video on July 31

Prime Video subscribers will have to go on an epic journey to return to the realms of elves, dwarfs, and men after July 31, as the original The Lord of the Rings trilogy will depart for the undying lands…or potentially another streaming platform. Yes, we know that almost everyone owns a physical copy of Peter Jackson’s visionary telling of one of the greatest and most influential fantasy stories ever written – and the sensible ones have made sure that it is the extended versions – but it is pretty sad when you have to make all that effort of taking down a box, opening it, putting it in the player…when you could just click a button and have it appear on Prime Video for you viewing pleasure.
