Quentin Tarantino reveals favourite film he’s made

Quentin Tarantino has revealed his favourite film that he has made.

The director, who has helmed numerous iconic projects over the years, including Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds, released his latest film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in 2019.

Speaking on podcast The Church Of Tarantino, the filmmaker admitted that the latter film is his “favourite” – though also shared some other highlights.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favourite, Inglourious Basterds is my best,” he said, before suggesting that Kill Bill is “the ultimate Quentin movie”.

“Like nobody else could’ve made it,” Tarantino continued. “Every aspect about it is so particularly ripped, like with tentacles and bloody tissue, from my imagination and my id and my loves and my passion and my obsession.

“So I think Kill Bill is the movie I was born to make, I think Inglourious Basterds is my masterpiece, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favourite.”

Weighing in on his strongest screenplays, the director added: “I think Inglourious Basterds is my best script, and I think Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time In Hollywood are right behind.”

Tarantino is currently prepping a sequel to Once Upon A Time In Hollywood called The Adventures Of Cliff Booth, which will focus on Brad Pitt’s character from the original film.

However, while he is writing the screenplay, Tarantino will be handing over the directing reins to David Fincher, and explained in the same podcast interview why that is the case.

“I think me and David Fincher are the two best directors,” he said. “So the idea that David Fincher actually wants to adapt my work, to me, shows a level of seriousness towards my work that I think needs to be taken into account.”

Alongside the returning Pitt, the Netflix film is also set to star the likes of Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan.

Tarantino has also revealed why he decided to “pull the plug” on planned film The Movie Critic, which was originally envisioned as a series before being rewritten into a film.

“No one’s waiting for this thing, per se. I mean, I can do it whenever I want, it’s already written,” he explained recently. “So OK, let me just not start it right now, let me try writing it as a movie and let me see if it’s better that way. And I was like, ‘Oh, OK, no, I think this is going to be the movie.’ And then it wasn’t. I pulled the plug on it. And the reason I pulled the plug, it’s a little crazy.”

He added: “Every Tarantino title promises so much, except The Movie Critic. Who wants to see a TV show about a fucking movie critic? Who wants to see a movie called The Movie Critic? If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about somebody who watches movies interesting, that is an accomplishment.”
