Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman Says 'The Studio's Depiction of Executives Is Wrong
Sony CEO Tom Rothman enjoyed Apple TV+'s hit series The Studio, but also took issue with the series' depiction of studio executives. Ever since getting his start co-producing Jim Jarmusch's Down by Law in 1986, Rothman has been one of Hollywood's most prominent figures. In 1989, he became president of Worldwide Production for the Samuel Goldwyn Company, founded Fox Searchlight in 1994, and from 2000 to 2012, he served as the chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment. Starting in 2015, Rothman became chairman of Sony Pictures' Motion Picture Group, replacing Amy Pascal, the former executive who Catherine O'Hara's The Studio character Patty Leigh is heavily based on.
