The gates to Glastonbury 2025 have just opened

Glastonbury Festival 2025 has officially kicked off and opened it’s doors.
The gates officially opened at 8am this morning (June 25), permitting entry to ticketholders who have been queuing in their thousands overnight. Festival Medical Services, who provide medical personnel to the event, shared that “thousands are on the move” and urged fans to “be patient with fellow road users and festival marshals” as they queue.
Emily Eavis – who earlier this month revealed the changes made to the site ahead of this year’s edition – was in attendance with Michael Eavis and the rest of the family, who welcomed early arrivals accompanied by a brass band – you can watch a clip of the gates opening below.
The iconic festival is back at Worthy Farm in Somerset between June 25 – 29, ahead of a fallow year in 2026. Headliners are Neil Young, Rod Stewart, The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo on the Pyramid Stage, while Loyle Carner, Charli XCX and The Prodigy will perform on the Other Stage.
Other big names on the bill include Biffy Clyro, The Maccabees, Lucy Dacus, Father John Misty, RAYE, Wolf Alice, The Prodigy, Doechii, St. Vincent, Deftones, The Libertines, Wet Leg, Weezer, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Future Islands, JADE, TV On The Radio, Self Esteem, CMAT, Blossoms and Turnstile.

While recently discussing the emphasis on safety and space management earlier this year, organisers also dropped new information about the site’s layout. One such change is the additional space introduced around The Other Stage, done particularly due to the huge number of people who will be wanting to see Charli XCX perform there as headliner on the Saturday night.
Eavis had also encouraged Glastonbury-goers to make full use of the festival app (download here) to highlight which artist they were planning to see. “It’s useful for us from a crowd perspective,” she explained on the Sidetracked podcast.
“We can say we have red, orange and green [areas], and if something is looking like it is going to be [busy], the field might have to be closed. It’s a normal thing to do when something is busy and it keeps it safe.”
Rumours about some secret sets at this year’s festival arose after the full line-up and day splits were unveiled at the start of the month, and there were indications of several secret sets on the way.
These included a ‘TBA’ at the Pyramid stage on Friday (June 27) before Alanis Morrissette‘s set, a mystery show at the Woodsies early on Friday at 11.30am, and a gap at the Park Stage on Saturday (28) between Gary Numan and Beth Gibbons.
One of the most talked about sets though is the performance of a mysterious artist going by the name ‘Patchwork’, which is planned for the Pyramid Stage on Saturday.
Since it was announced, fans and bookies have been convinced that the set would most likely be a surprise set from Britpop legends, Pulp – although both frontman Jarvis Cocker and keyboardist Candida Doyle have been quick to dismiss the rumours.
Other favourites for the slot include Lorde – who recently said she was eager to “pull some strings” and organise a last-minute appearance – HAIM, who have been dropping hints about their love for the festival in recent interviews, and Lewis Capaldi, who is speculated to be behind the new billboard that appeared in Castle Cary yesterday.
Now, a new name has been added to the mix following Chappell Roan sharing a new post on Monday (June 23) with a subtle hint to the ‘Patchwork’ alias.
At time of writing, it remains unclear who will be performing under the ‘Patchwork’ name this weekend, although bookies are still certain that it will be Pulp, despite their recent comments denying it. If the Sheffield band were to take to the stage there, it would coincide with them recently sharing ‘More’, their first album in 24 years, and also take place 30 years after their 1995 headline slot.
The upcoming instalment will mark the last before Glastonbury takes a fallow year in 2026 and, last November, tickets for Glastonbury 2025 sold out in just 32 minutes, with the festival making use of a new queuing system for tickets.
Meanwhile, here are the worst clashes to expect this year, as well as the latest weather forecasts for Glastonbury 2025.
Check back here later this week for more NME coverage of the festival.
