'The Trouble with Jessica' Review: The Comedy of a Doomed Dinner Party

Two married couples and an awful interloper suffer through the dinner party from hell in The Trouble with Jessica, a bitingly satirical, well-acted black comedy that runs out of steam after milking its clever premise dry. Director/co-writer Matt Winn packs a wallop in the film's taut and meticulously executed first act that hooks you quickly before a fine ensemble cast scurries for cover like bugs fleeing a boot. But you can only jump around for so long before the issues driving the narrative take a turn towards the ridiculous.
