Burna Boy made a surprise appearance at the England women’s team’s Euro 2025 victory parade in London yesterday (July 29).

The Lionesses were victorious in a dramatic final in Basel, Switzerland on Sunday afternoon (July 27), winning 3-1 over world champions Spain on penalties after the match finished 1-1 after extra time.

The team has spent the past two days celebrating the victory, first with a visit to 10 Downing Street before an open-top bus parade and presentation outside London’s famous Buckingham Palace yesterday.

During the presentation, the Nigerian singer shocked Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman when he was introduced onstage by former England player Alex Scott, who revealed that he was Wiegman’s favourite singer.

The England manager screamed, “Oh, no way” as he arrived on stage before the pair danced and sang his 2022 song with Ed Sheeran, ‘For My Hand’. You can view the performance below.

The team’s victory saw them successfully defend their UEFA Euros title after also winning the same title in 2022. It also marked the first major tournament that either the men’s or women’s England football team have ever won on foreign soil.

Many took to social media after Chloe Kelly’s tournament-winning penalty hit the back of the net, including David Baddiel, the co-writer and performer of the England football anthem ‘Three Lions’.

The song, by the Lightning Seeds and Baddiel and his comedy partner Frank Skinner, has long been the signature of English international tournaments, with fans singing the familiar refrain of “football’s coming home”. To celebrate, Baddiel wrote: “It’s come home. Again.”

Elsewhere, Burna Boy recently apologised for comments he made criticising Afrobeats music, saying that they stemmed from a place of unhappiness. His initial comments divided fan opinion back in 2023, when he spoke to Zane Lowe for Apple Music, and shared that he thought the Afrobeats genre as a whole was devoid of any deeper meaning.

But earlier this month, he reflected on his comments and said that it came in retaliation for feeling like he was being confined to one genre.
