Dua Lipa honours Sinéad O’Connor during Dublin show with cover of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’

Dua Lipa surprised fans at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium with a cover of Sinéad O’Connor‘s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ – check out footage of the moment below.
On Friday night (June 27), the pop star played the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, which was also the final show of the Europe leg of her ‘Radical Optimism’ tour. During the concert, she paid tribute to O’Connor with a cover of the late Irish icon‘s biggest hit, ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’.
“Tonight, I am honoured to perform a song by a late Irish legend,” Dua Lipa said to the crowd as she introduced ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, per Consequence. The song, which was made famous by O’Connor in 1990, was written by Prince and first appeared on the self-titled 1985 album of his band, The Family. “If you know the words, please sing along.”

Dua Lipa’s rendition of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ is the latest in a series of cover songs and special guest appearances that the pop star has whipped out throughout her ‘Radical Optimism’ tour.
During the first of her two Wembley Stadium shows in London earlier this month, Lipa brought out Jamiroquai frontman Kay Jay and performed the band’s 1996 hit ‘Virtual Insanity’ with the singer.
Meanwhile, the second Wembley Stadium show saw Lipa joined by Charli XCX. Together, they covered the ‘Brat’ singer’s ‘360’.
The pop star’s ‘Radical Optimism’ tour will resume in September, when she embarks on its North American leg, which will run into October, followed by Latin American dates in November and December. Find any remaining tickets for the upcoming US dates here.
In other news, Lipa has confirmed her engagement to actor Callum Turner after months of fan speculation.
