YouTube Wants to Acquire the Rights to Host and Stream the Oscars
There are plenty of contenders vying for victory in the category of "best company to host the Oscars," but no winner has been declared as yet. YouTube, in particular, has demonstrated a desire to diversify and expand into live events and, according to a new report, the Google-owned video-sharing platform is keen to become the new home of Hollywood's biggest night — but it faces some tough competition, not least of which includes from ABC, where the prestigious Academy Awards have been held for the past 48 years (and counting).
