'Conclave' is Being Used By Cardinals To Help Choose New Pope

Following the passing of Pope Francis, various cardinals are about to select a new Pope and are looking for guidance — but not from above. Instead, the cardinals are headed to the movies, specifically to watch Conclave. Released in 2024, Conclave follows the election process of a new pope and stars Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini. The movie won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar and has since seen a boom in popularity on streaming following the death of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025, and now it looks like the actual cardinals who will choose the next Pope are among its viewers.
