Alex Garland’s adaptation of Elden Ring is reportedly set to star Heartstopper’s Kit Connor.

A movie version of hit video game Elden Ring has been rumoured since it was first released in 2022, but the project was officially confirmed earlier this month.

The Elden Ring movie will be written and directed by Alex Garland and released via A24. No details about plot have been announced but according to a new Deadline report, Kit Connor is in talks to star in the project.

It isn’t known how far along negotiations are and A24 has declined to comment, but it’s reported both Garland and Connor want this to happen.

Kit Connor is best known as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper, which is set to conclude with a feature film after three seasons. Filming will take place this summer. Connor also previously worked with Garland on his combat epic Warfare which was released earlier this year.

“If A24 does this movie right it could be a weird fantasy thriller kinda like Green Knight, I’d be super into that,” one fan wrote following the news of Kit Connor’s potential casting. “Okey doke, any of you gamers and can tell me what i need to know about this,” asked another. Two of my favorite things coming together… I’ve given so much and I finally get to receive,” added a third.

However other fans are still worried about how a big screen adaptation of Elden Ring will work.

“I don’t know how you fit so much lore and anything less than a 200+ million budget into a 2 hour movie and keep it appealing to a casual audience. Those screenwriters and producers better be on point,” said one fan.

Games Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is set to help produce the movie after helping with the world-building of the original game. However some fans are annoyed about his involvement following the 14 year wait for a new book.

Hitting back at complaints on his blog, Martin wrote: “Some of you will just be pissed off by this, as you are by everything I announce here that is not about Westeros or The Winds Of Winter. You have given up on me, or on the book. “Thing is, I do care about them. And I care about The Starks and Lannisters and Targaryens, Tyrion and Asha, Dany and Daenerys, the dragons and the direwolves, I care about them all. More than you can ever imagine.”

In other news, Elden Ring: Nightreign players are struggling with the game’s restrictive three-person multiplayer set-up. “FromSoftware dropping the hardest boss ever: having friends,” wrote one disgruntled player
