'F1' Overtakes 'Sinners' as the Most Successful Original Film of 2025

Since its April release, Ryan Coogler's Sinners has set astonishing records, both financially and critically. The original project started a bidding war between studios before it went into development, with Warner Bros. eventually winning Coogler's coveted script. The deal itself was historic — the rights to the movie will revert to the filmmaker in 25 years. With its IMAX 70mm theatrical run and highly anticipated release, the movie broke box office records, eventually becoming the highest-grossing original film of 2025. However, after the latest weekend box office reports, a new title has taken that crown: Joseph Kosinski's F1: The Movie.
