Ice Cube stars in bizarre ‘Minecraft’ advert following ‘War Of The Worlds’ flop

Ice Cube has followed up his starring role in the flop War Of The Worlds remake with a bizarre Minecraft advert.

In a clip shared on social media last night, Ice Cube stars in a goofy advert as a claims adjuster. “I’m Ice Cube and this is my ice cubicle. I’m here to insure your cubes. If you left the gas while dismounting your happy ghast or you just straight up died, you can be entitled to a lump sum settlement. So send me, Ice Cube, a video of your Minecraft mishap and file a Cube Claim today,” says the actor and musician in the vide.

Fans have been sharing their in-game fails with the hashtag #cubeclaim on social media but so far, Ice Cube has denied every claim he’s been sent. “Cube’s not here for sympathy, just the story,” explains an accompanying post on X.

The advert follows Amazon Prime Video’s recent remake of H.G. Wells’ iconic 1898 sci-fi novel, which sees Cube feature alongside Eva Longoria and Clark Gregg. Ice Cube stars as Department of Homeland Security officer Will Radford, who works for a government surveillance program that can monitor every person on Earth, with the entire “screenlife” film taking place on Radford’s computer screen.

War Of The Worlds was released at the end of last month and has been trashed by viewers. It’s currently one of the worst-reviewed films on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 3 per cent and has been mocked across social media. “It’s like they aimed for funny bad and missed. It’s essentially a terrible 90 minute SNL skit that feels like 90 hours,” one viewer wrote on Reddit. ”It isn’t just a bad movie, it is one absolutely obnoxious product placement ad after another. Remote piloting a Tesla, Microsoft Teams. The heroic Amazon delivery driver is especially pathetic. Complete garbage,” added another.

A movie adaptation of Minecraft was released earlier this year and went on to become one of the most successful films of 2025 despite average reviews from critics.

In other news, Xbox has confirmed what it will be announcing during Gamescom next week. Two broadcasts will take place, with news on the new handheld Xbox ROG Ally, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Indiana Jones And The Great Circle. However Hollow Knight: Silksong is missing from the list of confirmed games.
