'Master and Commander' Sold Out 4K Blu-ray Falls Victim to Scalpers

More than 22 years after Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World hit theaters, the Peter Weir classic is making waves. Physical media enthusiasts have been clamoring for a 4K Blu-ray release of the film for years, so they were overjoyed when Disney finally dropped anchor and announced a limited-edition version of the cult classic, coming to the format on Aug. 5 in the U.S. and Sept. 8 in the U.K. However, the 4K version of the 2003 epic period war-drama, starring Russell Crowe as Jack Aubrey, a captain in the Royal Navy, proved to be a highly sought-after disc and instantly sold out, leading eBay scalpers to sell it for a premium.
