I’m Still Obsessed with the Randolph Scott Reference in 'Blazing Saddles'

Mel Brooks' stone-cold classic Blazing Saddlesis one of the rare comedies that's lost little of its impact over the years. It uses the inherently backward-looking form of the western to lampoon the racial prejudices of its era, but at the same time, it clearly has a lot of love for the tropes and conventions of its genre. Brooks clearly adores movies, and westerns are no exception.
