Madonna announces release of long-rumoured ‘Veronica Electronica’

Madonna has announced the release of her long-rumoured ‘Veronica Electronica’ album. Check out the details below.
The project was originally envisioned by the queen of pop back in 1998 as an eight-track companion to ‘Ray Of Light’ – her seventh studio album that was shared that same year. Designed as a remix LP, ‘Veronica Electronica’ was ultimately sidelined following the success of the original album, which went on to sell over 16million copies globally and win four Grammys.
Now, more than 25 years on, the singer has shared that the record will be released on July 25. Visit here to pre-order.
The collection features rare and unreleased remixes of the songs in the ‘Ray Of Light’ tracklist, including club versions from the late Peter Rauhofer, producer William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone. It also features an original demo of ‘Gone, Gone, Gone’, a previously unreleased recording produced by Madonna and Rick Nowels.
As well as arriving digitally, the album will also be made available on a silver vinyl that includes an exclusive silver mylar lithograph. The latter comes as an extension of Madonna’s ‘Silver Collection’ – a series that sees her re-share parts of her catalogue as collectable, limited-edition vinyl reissues.
To celebrate the announcement, Madonna has dropped deep cut ‘Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit)’ as a preview of ‘Veronica Electronica’. Check it out below, along with the tracklisting.
The ‘Veronica Electronica’ tracklist is:
1. ‘Drowned World/Substitute For Love – BT & Sasha Bucklodge Ashram New Edit’
2. ‘Ray Of Light – Sasha Twilo Mix Edit’
3. ‘Skin – The Collaboration Remix Edit’
4. ‘Nothing Really Matters – Club 69 Speed Mix Meets The Dub’
5. ‘Sky Fits Heaven – Victor Calderone Future New Edit’
6. ‘Frozen – Widescreen Mix and Drums’
7. ‘The Power Of Good-Bye – Fabien’s Good God Mix Edit’
8. ‘Gone, Gone, Gone – Original Demo Version’
As well as revisiting ‘Veronica Electronica’ for 2025, the pop icon has also been hinting at new music that could arrive later this year.
Last October, Madge revealed that she had joined forces with hit producer Stuart Price again and that they were in a London studio working on some new material.
The two have worked together for over 20 years now, and Price’s work has included contributions to her 2005 album ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’. Since then, he has worked with her on three of her tours, and met up with her again in 2023 as part of her ‘Celebration’ shows.
At the end of 2024, Madonna shared another update, further hinting at a new project on the way, and in February she told fans that the end result may be a second part to her aforementioned ‘Confessions…’ album.
When a new record arrives, it’ll be the first from the ‘Celebration’ singer since 2019’s ‘Madame X’.
In other Madonna news, last month it was reported that the singer may be working on a show based on her life for Netflix, and teaming up with Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy for the limited series.
Before then, Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears hinted that a duet between Madge and Elton John is on the way. The rumoured collaboration comes after the latter two “finally buried the hatchet” of their long-running feud in April, following Madonna confronting Sir Elton backstage during his appearance on Saturday Night Live.
