Oasis Live ’25: “Negotiations are underway” for a show in Rome amidst European tour rumours, councillor claims

Oasis

The Rome City Councillor for Major Events has claimed that “negotiations are underway” to bring the Oasis reunion tour to the Italian city.

Liam and Noel Gallagher have so far brought their long-awaited ‘Live ‘25’ tour dates to London’s Wembley Stadium and their hometown of Manchester’s Heaton Park after kicking off the live shows with two nights at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Next, they’ll make stops in both Edinburgh and Dublin, as well as North AmericaSouth AmericaAustraliaSouth Korea and Japan.

Currently, the tour’s UK and Ireland leg are the only shows scheduled in Europe. But, now, Rome City Councillor Alessandro Onorato has said he’s making efforts to bring the tour to Italy.

Speaking to local radio station Radio Sei yesterday (July 31) Onorato said that Rome has previously missed out on hosting live music events of this magnitude – something he aims to change. “Organising a large event in Rome is very complicated; in the past, Rome has been the ‘city of missed opportunities.’”

He continued: “Oasis in the capital? These are live shows for companies that organise events all over the world, and the financial aspect is crucial. Negotiations are underway,” per Far Out.

It’s not the first time he’s voiced his intention to bring the colossal tour to Rome. Last September, after the reunion was announced, he said he had “applied to host them in Rome”.

It comes after the band’s manager Alec McKinlay dashed hopes of the possibility of more tour dates being announced back in May, saying: “This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” he said. “It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to.”

He added: “No, there’s no plan for any new music.”

Liam then cast doubt over these comments, and dismissed McKinlay’s comments as coming from “the accountant”.

The band previously shot down reports that they were planning to return to headline Knebworth in 2026.

In NME‘s five-star review of their Cardiff debut, we said: “The returning Britpop heroes sound awesome, look cool as fuck, and deliver the greatest hits of greatest hits. Lord knows we need this escape.”

In other news, it was recently announced that money made from the band’s huge shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park will be used to help fund grassroots music venues in the city.

Elsewhere, John Power from Oasis Live ’25 support act, Cast, said Liam and Noel “seem to be in an absolutely wonderful place”.
