Last month, Sony caused outrage by raising the price of the digital PS5 console from £389.99 to £429.99. “With a backdrop of a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, [we] have made the tough decision to raise the recommended retail price of the PlayStation 5 console,” the company explained.
However earlier today (May 28) Sony confirmed that PS5 consoles, alongside a number of official accessories and games, will see a price reduction.
The Days Of Play sale is now live and will run until June 11. During that time, the digital-only PS5 console will be reduced to £339.99 from £429.99 while the cost of the contrversial PlayStation 5 Pro will be reduced to £654.99, a saving of £45. Players can also save £20 on select DualSense Wireless controllers and £45 on PS VR2 headsets. Check out the full Days Of Play sale here.

“It’s official – Days of Play is back for 2025! We are kicking off the 2025 celebration on May 28, with community activities, new content coming to PlayStation Plus, and great offers on PS5 consoles, games, and accessories,” Sony wrote in a dedicated blog.
“Days of Play is all about celebrating our players and the moments of play that make being part of the PlayStation community so special. With an exciting year ahead filled with new game releases, experiences, and milestones, it’s a great time to check out the latest PlayStation activities and promotions we have planned for this year’s celebration.”
Earlier this month, Xbox confirmed global price hikes for the Series X/S consoles, as well as first-party games and accessories.
Meanwhile Nintendo has received a lot of backlash over the “variable” price of games for the Switch 2, with Mario Kart World set to cost fans £74.99. Defending the cost, Nintendo exec Doug Bowser said: “We’ll look at each game, really look at the development that’s gone into the game, the breadth and depth of the gameplay, if you will, the durability over time and the repeatability of gameplay experiences.”
