'Showgirls' Was Ahead of Its Time According to Star Elizabeth Berkley
Showgirls, the box office bomb of 1995 directed by Paul Verhoeven, was screened at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles as part of Cinespia's 30th anniversary program. Fans of the cult classic who attended the LGBTQ+ Pride screening got the surprise of a lifetime when the lead star of the film made an appearance. Elizabeth Berkley showed up and offered her support for the LGBTQ+ community while saying that the controversial film was "way ahead of its time."
