Social media reacts to Lewis Capaldi’s triumphant Glastonbury 2025 return: “This is strength, resilience, and perseverance personified”

Lewis Capaldi has made his triumphant return at Glastonbury 2025 and the internet couldn’t be more proud of him – check out some social media reactions to his not-so-secret set below.
Earlier today, Capaldi returned with ‘Survive’ – his first new track in two years. Just hours later, he made his grand return to the live stage at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage a full two years after he struggled with tics caused by Tourette’s and ended his set prematurely.
Though short, Capaldi’s return was emotional and redemptive – he took to social media to share a clip comparing his 2025 return to the way he left things in 2023: “Glastonbury it’s so incredible to be back, thank you so much for having me x”

The return wasn’t just an emotional ride for Capaldi – fans at Worthy Farm and watching Glastonbury’s livestream at home were teary-eyed too. “This is strength, resilience, and perseverance personified. Two years ago, I watched live coverage as Lewis Capaldi was floored by Tourettes. He takes two years to rest, recover, and heal, showing those struggling with mental health issues that there is always a way back,” one fan wrote on X/Twitter.

Capaldi’s set had been speculated for several weeks in the lead-up to Glastonbury, but fans were only 100 per cent certain earlier this week when it was announced that he had a new single ‘Survive’ incoming.
In the build up to the festival, fans have spotted billboards in both Capaldi’s birthplace of Glasgow and Castle Cary, near the town of Glastonbury. At his comeback set, Capaldi performed seven songs – including ‘Before You Go’, new tune ‘Survive’ and ‘Someone You Loved’.
So far, Glastonbury has seen a surprise set from Lorde – who performed her new album ‘Virgin’ in full (and scored a five star review in the process), a spunky set from Wet Leg, a surprise appearance by Peter Capaldi at Franz Ferdinand’s set and more. Day one will wrap with upcoming sets from The 1975, Loyle Carner, Self Esteem and more.
The weekend continues with Charli XCX, Deftones, Neil Young, Olivia Rodrigo, The Prodigy, Rod Stewart and many more. Check out the full line-up and schedule here.
