‘The Last Of Us’ fans hail “masterclass acting” in new episode: “My favourite moment so far”

Bella Ramsey as Ellie in 'The Last Of Us' season 2, episode 5

The Last Of Us fans have hailed the “masterclass” level of acting in the show’s latest episode.

The HBO show aired second season episode ‘Feel Her Love’ last night (May 11), which continues Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Dina’s (Isabela Merced) quest to get revenge on Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) following her brutal murder of Joel (Pedro Pascal) earlier this season.

The episode concludes with Ellie confronting WLF member Nora (Tati Gabrielle), who was part of Abby’s entourage when she killed Joel.

As she chases after Nora, the Wolves come to the latter’s aid, though they back off when Nora enters an area infected with cordyceps spores, Nora believing she is leading Ellie and herself into a trap that will kill them both.

However, Nora quickly realises that Ellie is immune and that only she is doomed, before telling her the truth about Joel killing everyone in the hospital to save Ellie last season.

Ellie responds that she knows, and demands to know where Abby is. Nora refuses to give her ally up, leading Ellie to brutally beat her with a metal bar.

Fans have since taken to X to praise the scene, one writing: “Masterclass acting… Nora’s slow realization of who Ellie is and how she’s the only one getting infected, Ellie’s calm revelation of her immunity and knowledge of what happened. There’s nothing but resignation and pure rage AMAZING SCENE.”

“‘You’re her.’ this is probably my favorite moment of the season so far Bella’s Ellie was actually INSANE,” another added, a third saying: “They nailed Ellie n Nora’s confrontation in the show like wow.”

“This scene was perfectly done,” a fourth wrote. “The way we can start to really see where her mindset really is at. How she is slowly letting this take over her whole self. Bella absolutely destroyed this scene.”

The episode ends on a flashback to Joel, which understandably got many fans emotional, one sharing: “Oh this hurts SO bad.”

A second joked: “So actually, ellie woke up and everything that happened has been a really bad dream and her and joel are living life together in jackson and everything’s okay! the end!” while a third said: “See you next week king.”

In other news, Merced recently revealed that her co-star Ramsey had to make their acoustic cover of A-Ha‘s ‘Take On Me’ in the show’s previous episode intentionally “worse” than the original video game version.

“They told Bella to do it the way that they would, except worse, so it sounded more like a regular person picking up a guitar, and not like this talented individual that just emits beauty in all directions,” Merced told The Hollywood Reporter.

“So Bella had to kind of tone it down a little bit. Even then I was still mesmerised and emotional.”
