It certainly doesn't shy away from some gory wounds, nor does it sugarcoat the effect that working in an emergency room has on the many men and women who work tirelessly to save lives. The series is so real that star Noah Wyle recently revealed the heartbreaking reaction his mom had to it, as she herself was a nurse for 20 years.
