Before 1997, if you asked someone what they thought of when they heard "Titanic," they would go with the most famous shipwreck of all time. But since then, James Cameron's eponymous movie has overtaken the original ship in our cultural sphere. The ship and the movie each represent significant moments in history, both together and separately. You might think that the original ship was a greater financial investment than the movie. After all, it was among the largest luxury cruise liners at the time. That had to have cost more than a simple Hollywood movie, right? Not exactly, as the Titanic movie actually cost more than the original ship did in the early 1900s.
