'What's Happening!!' Star Danielle Spencer Dies Aged 60
Danielle Spencer, who starred in the classic '70s series What's Happening!!as Dee Thomas, has died. News of her death was revealed in an Instagram post by her co-star, Haywood Nelson, who portrayed Dwayne. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nelson said the former actress died in a hospital in Richmond, Virginia. In September 2014, Spencer was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. Four years later, in 2018, she had emergency surgery to stop bleeding in her brain. Spencer was 60.
