Why Old Movies on Film Look Better Than Today's Digital Movies

With the advent of digital photography, the physical quality of movie appearances has waned drastically in the last 20 years. Before digital cameras were introduced to Hollywood, the industry-standard photographic format was celluloid film. By shooting in 8mm, 16mm, or the most popular format, 35mm, Hollywood movies used to look sharper, more textured, and far more realistic and true to life than the flat, homogeneous aesthetic that makes nearly every movie released today appear identical, unoriginal, and instantly disposable.
