If Yellowstoneand the Taylor Sheridan universe of shows it spawned are your thing, you'll be thrilled to know that the vast plains of Larry McMurtry's epic Western Lonesome Dove spread far beyond the original Pulitzer Prize-winning book and award-winning miniseries. If you haven't ever experienced any aspect of Lonesome Dove, the original book of the same name is the right place to start. There is a fascinating backstory even to that book (originally planned as a movie), but the first story about Texas Rangers Woodrow Call and Augustus McCrae was just the beginning of an epic Western saga that makes the Sheridan-verse seem small by comparison.
