Bob Vylan announce new European shows after no longer touring with Gogol Bordello due to Glastonbury controversy

Bob Vylan have announced a trio of European shows, which come as they are no longer supporting New York punks Gogol Bordello.
Earlier this week, a music venue in Cologne, Germany announced that the punk rap duo would no longer be supporting Gogol Bordello there in the autumn before both bands announced that Bob Vylan will no longer be supporting them on the tour.
It comes amid the fallout from their Glastonbury Festival set last month in which they voiced support for Palestine, criticised Israel and led the crowd in a chant calling for death to the Israel Defence Forces.
They have now announced three new shows in the Netherlands in September, kicking off at Amsterdam Paradiso on September 13, before calling at Nijmegen Doornroosje on September 15 and wrapping up at the 013 in Tilburg the following night (September 16).
“You thought we wouldn’t be back!? Tickets on sale this Friday 10am CET,” they wrote on Instagram. You can purchase tickets here at 3pm BST on July 18.
Since Bob Vylan’s performance on the West Holts Stage, they have come under a criminal investigation, had their US visas revoked and were removed from their headline slot at Manchester’s Radar Festival. Their agents also reportedly cut ties with them.
Damon Albarn also recently described the duo’s comments as “one of the most spectacular misfires I’ve seen in my life” in an interview, while they’ve been defended by the likes of Chuck D and Massive Attack, the latter urging the media to direct their attention towards “what is happening daily to the people of Gaza” instead.
Bob Vylan themselves played their first UK show since Glastonbury at London’s 100 Club last week, and urged fans to stop repeating the “death to the IDF” chant after a group of attendees tried to start it.
Following their set at Glastonbury, they addressed the subsequent controversy in a statement, writing: “We are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or group of people. We are for the dismantling of a violent military machine.
“A machine whose own soldiers were told to use ‘unnecessary lethal force’ against innocent civilians waiting for aid. A machine that has destroyed much of Gaza. We, like those in the spotlight before us, are not the story. We are a distraction from the story. And whatever sanctions we receive will be a distraction.”
