Deftones tease new music and play career-spanning Crystal Palace Park show the day after they dropped out of Glastonbury 2025

Chino Moreno of Deftones performs live

Deftones played a huge show in London and teased new music just one day after pulling out of Glastonbury 2025. Check out footage and the full setlist below.

The headline show took place on Sunday (June 29) and saw them team up with Weezer at the capital city’s Crystal Palace Park. It took place just one day after the Chino Moreno-led band were set to perform on the Other Stage at Glastonbury 2025, but were forced to pull out at the last minute.

The cancellation was announced earlier that day, just hours before they were set to kick off their set. It was shared that the decision was made due to one of the members falling ill, and Skepta was enlisted as a last-minute replacement. Weezer also played on that same stage earlier in the day.

Now, the band are back up and running again and played their huge set in London without issue. They kicked things off with two huge tracks from their 1997 album ‘Around The Fur’ – ‘Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)’ and ‘My Own Summer (Shove It)’ – before going into renditions of ‘Diamond Eyes’, ‘Tempest’ and ‘Swerve City’.

Elsewhere in the 19-song setlist were performances of ‘You’ve Seen The Butcher’, ‘Sextape’, ‘Rosemary’ and ‘Hole In The Earth’, while the encore consisted of back-to-back performances of ‘Minerva’, ‘Bored’ and ‘7 Words’.

One thing that got fans talking, though, was the projection that showed on the side screens after the performance that read “Private Music”, and had “X.VII.MMXXV distributed by Deftones, all rights reserved.” written underneath. The Roman numerals translate to July 10 2025, leading to some speculating that highly-anticipated new music could be announced on that day.

Check out more footage below, along with the complete setlist.

Deftones’ London setlist was:

‘Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)’
‘My Own Summer (Shove It)’
‘Diamond Eyes’
‘Tempest’
‘Swerve City’
‘Feiticeira’
‘Digital Bath’
‘You’ve Seen the Butcher’
‘Rocket Skates’
‘Sextape’
‘Around the Fur’
‘Headup’
‘Rosemary’
‘Hole in the Earth’
‘Change (In the House of Flies)’
‘Genesis’
‘Minerva’
‘Bored’
‘7 Words’

“deftones were fucking INCREDIBLE,” one fan wrote after attending the show, while another added: “Fucking class all round great crowd too.”

“I knew Deftones was good live but OMG CHINO’S VOICE,” a third added. Check out more fan reactions below.

The show with Weezer was announced back in November 2024, and comes as Deftones have covered a variety of the Los Angeles band’s tracks over the years, including ‘El Scorcho’ and ‘Say It Ain’t So’.

It follows the frontman previously admitting to NME that he wished he had written Weezer’s ‘The Blue Album’. “[I wish I’d written] more or less the whole record ‘The Blue Album’ from Weezer. Those songs themselves are so simple in a way but they just penetrate, it’s just a great record,” he said.

“I remember saying back then that I wish I was in that band and had written this batch of songs because they’re so fun to play and so fun to sing, and we used to soundcheck to that whole record!”

As for the speculation of new music, the rumours that “Private Music” could indicate a new album comes as past two years have seen Deftones hint at a new album on the way, which will mark the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Ohms’.

In September 2023, for instance, the band teased an upcoming full-length album and suggested that it was due to arrive in 2024, although this never materialised.

In Spring 2024, they then shared another update on their new LP and said that they were adding the final touches to the recording.

“[We] have a whole record recorded all musically,” Moreno said. “And it’s pretty much my job right now to finish up the vocals… We’re not really in a rush. We want it to be great. I think that’s most important. But it is coming, and, yeah – it’s really good.”
