DJ Pikachu and more: what to expect during this week’s Pokémon announcement

Nintendo has confirmed a bumper Pokémon Presents livestream for tomorrow (July 22) – this is what you can expect to be announced.

The Pokémon Presents will air tomorrow at 1pm BST and can be viewed here, via the official YouTube channel.

Over the weekend, it was revealed that the video presentation will last for 24 minutes, which is much longer than the previous two Pokémon Presents. Earlier this year, a dedicated Pokémon direct gave fans a better look at the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A and confirmed a late 2025 release safe for the spin-off.

It was also confirmed that hit mobile game Pokémon TCG Pocket would be getting a new set of cards alongside ranked play while updates for both Pokémon Sleep and Cafe were confirmed. The February stream then revealed that a second season of Netflix’s stop-motion series Pokémon Concierge is currently in production, with new episodes due out later this year. New multiplayer game Champions was also teased.

Nintendo has spent the past week racking up the excitement around tomorrow’s Pokémon Presents. A teaser image showing Pikachu and a DJ set-up was shared online alongside the message “It seems like Pikachu is preparing something…?”

It’s now been confirmed that Pikachu will be hosting a special pre-show called ‘Everyone Gather! DJ Pikachu Live’ which will start at midday tomorrow. “Let’s get hyped together,” reads the accompanying post on X.

As for the July 2025 Pokémon Presents, here’s what you can expect to be announced.

The same Tweet mentioned Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The spin-off is due to launch October 16 and pre-orders have already gone live, but Nintendo will probably use this presentation to reveal more about the game. Viewers can also expect news about the future of Pokémon Pocket and a release date for Concierge is also likely. We’re also due an update on Champions after the game was announced earlier this year.

With Pokémon Legends: Z-A due out in a few months, Nintendo is unlikely to reveal the next mainline titles but they may tease the next generation of ‘Mon. The last fresh batch of Pokémon came as part of 2022’s Scarlet & Violet and the official Trading Card Game is set to move onto a new generation later this year with the Mega Evolution set.

2025 is also the 15th anniversary of Black & White and people are hoping for a remake of the fan-favourite games. There’s always the chance older games may be made available to purchase on modern consoles ahead of the franchise’s 30th anniversary next year as well.  As it stands, only the 2021 remakes of 2006’s Pokémon Diamond & Pearl and 2022’s Scarlet & Violet are available to play on Switch.

A collaboration with Lego has already been confirmed as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations.

In other news, Nintendo is giving Switch 2 fans another chance to try out their mysterious online game later this month.
