A new wave of Marvel's X-Menfilms has been a long time coming. The rights to the X-Men team initially belonged to 20th Century Fox. As a result, despite being one of Marvel's most lucrative teams, the X-Men were never able to fully interact with and immerse themselves in Kevin Feige's plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fox's projects centering on the mutants started in 2000 with Bryan Singer's X-Men.
