Sky Sports has announced that a reworked version of ‘G.O.A.T’ by Kasabian ft. Cristale will be the new soundtrack to the 2025/26 Premier League season and beyond.

The track originally appeared on the band’s 2024 album ‘Happenings’, and frontman Serge Pizzorno has rewritten and remixed the track specifically for the sports channel. Speaking in a new press release, he said it was “electric” to team up with Brixton artist Cristale on the reimagined version.

“G.O.A.T is all about self-belief and chasing your dreams with everything you’ve got,” he said. “We’re proud of what this song stands for. This one’s for everyone out there reaching for more, on and off the pitch.”

The track was released on Spotify last night (August 14), and fans attending the Liverpool v Bournemouth game at Anfield tonight (August 15) will get to hear it live for the first time ever.

Speaking about the new song, Gary Hughes, Sky Sports’ Director of Football, said music had always played a major part in their football coverage. “We have a long-standing relationship with the band and ‘Club Foot‘ is one of the most recognisable tracks we’ve used, so to be working with Kasabian again is fantastic.”

Hughes was referencing the indie rockers 2004 single, which served as an intro for the 2009/10 season, and later appeared in FIFA 13, prompting EA‘s president of music Steve Schnur to share it was his all-time favourite song from the game.

Vocalist Pizzorno is famously a massive Leicester City fan, having played two huge homecoming shows at Leicester’s King Power Stadium to celebrate the team’s Premiere League victory in 2016. When speaking to the band last year, NME‘s Rishi Shah noted that in 2014, 2016, and 2024, “trophies and Kasabian homecoming gigs, it would appear, go hand in hand”.

More recently, NME spoke to Pizzorno about his on stage appearance with Noel Fielding at the start of the year, and revealed what the band have planned next.

“I’ve known him for a long time now. It was beautiful because he was kind of stood there [on the side of the stage]. He was looking at me, I was looking at him, and he went ‘Nah!’,” Pizzorno said. “But when the song ended, he came out. [He] had to tell some jokes in the end because the song had already finished!”

The frontman also reflected on the response to the band’s latest album ‘Happenings’, and revealed whether fans can expect any more surprises following their unexpected set at Glastonbury last summer, saying surprise announcements would be “imminent” within the next year or so.

In a four-star review of ‘Happenings’, NME wrote: “At just 28 minutes in length, Kasabian’s eighth studio effort is concise, precise and generally focused. This allows a vibrant emotional clarity to bleed through its swaggering fabric, adding up to Kasabian’s strongest album in some years.”
