Margot Robbie in talks to produce and star in Tim Burton’s ‘Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman’ remake

Margot Robbie is reportedly in talks to produce and star in Tim Burton’s remake of cult-classic Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.
Last February, it emerged that Burton was working on a reimagining of the 1958 sci-fi horror, which follows a wealthy heiress who exacts revenge on her cheating husband after an alien encounter sees her grow into a giant.
Now, Variety have reported that the Birds of Prey star is in early conversations to join the remake.
The publication also noted that Robbie’s involvement as lead rests on the final screenplay. Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn penned a first draft, but then left the project because of scheduling conflicts, with the production team currently searching for a new writer.

If a deal closes, Robbie would produce the new film alongside LuckyChap partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, with an eye to star. The production company Robbie co-founded has been behind some of the most successful releases of recent years, including I, Tonya, Saltburn and Barbie.
Robbie, who had worked alongside Emerald Fennell on-screen for the latter, is next starring in Wuthering Heights, which hits screens in 2026. Fennell is helming the project, and will write, direct and produce the new version of Emily Bronte’s classic novel.
As for Burton, he brought back another beloved classic last year with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a sequel to his 1986 movie. Jenna Ortega joined original cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, as well as Michael Keaton in the title role.
Burton and Ortega are currently promoting another of their collaborations, Wednesday season two, which comes to Netflix in two parts, with the first dropping next Wednesday (August 6) and the second part on September 3.
Elsewhere, the director recently shot down rumours that Beetlejuice 3 is in development.
