Nintendo fans have finally got their hands on the Switch 2: “This thing is incredible”

Nintendo Switch 2:

The Switch 2 is out today and fans are already praising the latest Nintendo console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was announced earlier this year in a hardware-focused teaser trailer before more details were revealed in April, during an hour-long presentation. Despite some grumbling about the new “variable pricing” model Nintendo is now using on its games, pre-orders for the console sold out within minutes of going live.

Fans have now started receiving the bigger, more powerful console and have taken to social media to sing Nintendo’s praises. “This thing is incredible,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I’ve been playing it for hours and I’m loving it,” said another.

“System transfer was seamless and I tried out some Switch games. Pokemon Scarlet was buttery smooth and Metroid Prime Remastered looks even better. I said ‘forget about Mario Kart World, I gotta play F-Zero GX!’,” wrote a third, with others praising how good older Switch games look on the new console.

A number of stores across the world opened at midnight so fans could get their hands on a Switch 2 as soon as possible. “Seeing some of the kids in line literally jumping for joy as the time got closer really brought me back,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

It’s not just the console people are loving either. “Can we talk about how amazing the Switch 2 pro controller feels? I dunno what material the analog sticks/sides of the sticks are made of but it just feels smooth as butter,” one fan wrote. “Eshop doesn’t suck ass, worth the upgrade for that alone,” added another.

Meanwhile, a lot of people are very happy with launch title Mario Kart World, others are getting nostalgic for the GameCube games that have been added to the Nintendo Online Library while even the controversial Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour has been getting some love online. “Don’t sleep on this. There’s some nifty stuff,” one fan wrote.

It’s predicted the Switch 2 will become the fastest-selling console of all time, with experts expecting Nintendo to shift more than 15million units in the next twelve months.

As well as Mario Kart World and Welcome Tour, Nintendo has released a number of paid-updates for iconic games that will allow them to make use of the more powerful Switch 2, while a load of classic Switch games have received free updates.

In other news, IO Interactive has finally lifted the veil on its long-gestating James Bond game, 007 First Light.
