'Resident Evil' Reboot Director Hypes up His Take on the Franchise
Zack Cregger, the director of the 2022 horror gem Barbarian, has signed on as the filmmaker in charge of the upcoming Resident Evil franchise reboot. The video game series owned by Capcom has been adapted for the big screen before, but Sony Pictures has now acquired the rights, and they intend to fully reset the film series. Though not much is currently known about it, the film already has a release date. The new Resident Evil will arrive in theaters on September 18, 2026, and Cregger is already hyping up the movie, saying that it will "rip."
